Dr. Ed McLaughlin is a practicing physician in Northern California. He is Board Certified in Family Medicine and has a "Certificate of Added Qualification" in Sports Medicine having passed the exam created by four medical specialty boards in 1993. He has taught a class in Sports Medicine to undergraduate students at the University of California, Berkeley since 1986. Over 2000 students have taken the class which has received strongly positive student reviews. In addition, DrEd has been the volunteer team physician for Berkeley High School Athletics for 7 years, and has been the Medical Director for the Fitness Testing Lab on the University of California, Berkeley campus for several years. Since 1999 DrEd has authored or edited over 1000 items for medical websites. Duties have included message board management, "Ask the Expert" columns, and original articles on sports medicine and general medical topics.

Dr.Ed at workDrEd is the father of 2 children now attending college, regularly feeds an 8 pound cat named Bob, and claims non-professional level skills in golf, tennis, and salsa dancing.
